Secrets of Highgate Cemetery & Fish & Chips

As London’s churchyards reached capacity during the early reign of Queen Victoria, an ambitious plan was launched to create the Magnificent Seven, a series of grand, modern cemeteries encircling the city. Highgate Cemetery opened in 1839 and is today recognised as one of the world’s greatest cemeteries. Highlights include the Egyptian Avenue and the striking Circle of Lebanon, built around an ancient Cedar of Lebanon. Our visit includes traditional fish & chips at a London restaurant, followed by a 70-minute guided tour of the West Cemetery, with time afterwards for a self-guided visit to the East Cemetery before our return. As this is an outdoor visit with uneven paths and steps, comfortable footwear and suitable weather appropriate clothing are recommended.
