Itinerary
Day 1 Our relaxing weekend escape begins as we board the coach and set our sights on the scenic southwest. We will stop enroute giving you time to stretch your legs or enjoy a bite to eat. We then continue towards The Northfield Hotel in Minehead. On arrival, there’s time to settle into your room, perhaps take a stroll around the hotel’s lovely gardens, before our evening meal in the restaurant.
Day 2 Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace in the charming seaside resort of Minehead. Stroll along the wide sandy beach, breathe in the refreshing sea air as you wander the coastal path, or relax in the colourful, flower-filled Blenheim Gardens. For those seeking a little adventure, why not take a boat trip from the historic harbour, or climb the ancient stone steps to St Michael’s Church, where panoramic views across the coastline await. The town is brimming with characterful tea rooms, cosy pubs, and independent boutiques ideal for a relaxed day of discovery by the sea.
Day 3 A day of stunning scenery and quaint coastal villages lies ahead as we journey into North Devon, where Exmoor’s rugged beauty meets the sea. Our first stop is the delightful twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth, affectionately known as ‘England’s Little Switzerland’ for their dramatic cliffs, wooded valleys, and alpine charm. Take time to explore Lynmouth’s pretty harbour, browse the local shops, or perhaps experience a ride on the famous Lynton & Lynmouth Funicular Cliff Railway the highest and steepest fully water-powered railway in the world. We then continue to the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, where beautifully restored Victorian carriages carry you on a nostalgic narrow-gauge journey through wild moorland and rolling countryside. With sweeping coastal views and a glimpse into a bygone era, this heritage train line offers a unique and memorable experience.
Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast, we bid farewell to Minehead and begin our journey home. Along the way, we stop in the lively seaside resort of Weston-Super-Mare. Stroll along its famous promenade, enjoy a traditional seaside treat, or visit the iconic Grand Pier with its amusements, cafés, and shops. Take in the fresh sea air one last time before we rejoin the coach for a comfortable journey home.
